Rev. Dr. Ken Walden will transition out of his leadership role as President-Dean of Gammon Theological Seminary, effective June 30, 2020. The transition was prompted by the decision of the California-Pacific Conference of The United Methodist Church to appoint Dr. Walden to become Senior Pastor of Holman United Methodist Church located in Los Angeles, California. Dr. Walden is a clergy-member of the California-Pacific Conference of The United Methodist Church.
When the Board of Trustees named Dr. Walden as President-Dean of Gammon Theological Seminary, he brought an ambitious theological imagination, negotiated new institutional partnerships, displayed a tireless commitment, created a robust continuing education program, and expanded the donor base. During his tenure, the Center for Chaplaincy was created to foster awareness, exchange information, and explore the opportunities and practices in the field of professional chaplaincy. Additionally, Clergy Retreats, Spiritual Retreats, and Writing Retreats were launched to energize and revitalize leaders in various communities.
Dr. Walden has earned degrees from The Citadel (BS), Duke Divinity School (M.Div.), Graduate Theological Foundation (D.Min.), and Claremont School of Theology (MA & PhD). He is currently a Chaplain Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force Reserve (USAFR).
“I will always love and support Gammon Theological Seminary” said President-Dean Walden. An advisory committee will conduct a search for President-Dean Walden’s successor.
