Cascade United Methodist Church, Atlanta, Georgia is seeking a part-time (20-25 hours/week, including Sundays) Director of Children and Youth Ministries. We are looking for a Christ-centered and dependable leader who will be responsible for implementing, executing, promoting a comprehensive Christian Education program and outreach activities that will inspire and disciple children, youth, and their families.
Responsibilities include recruiting, training, coordinating and supervising staff/volunteers for all areas of children and youth programs, generally from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade.
May be asked to:
Organize and plan children and youth church services; research, implement and evaluate children/youth program resource materials; recommend changes and modifications to established programs and curriculum; work with other children/youth ministry leaders to ensure continuity among Christian Education Programs; prepare and send correspondence to children, youth, and parents; execute administrative tasks including formulating annual budget for the ministry; oversee planning and coordination of programs and seminars such as camps and vacation bible school; provide input for consideration in selection and evaluation process for staff and of volunteers for children and youth programs; provide minor emergency and first aid procedures; oversee coordination of childcare for church-wide meetings/events; actively participate in staff meeting; and other special projects and duties assigned by management.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in areas closely related to Children/ Youth ministry, Christian Education OR equivalent, closely-related experience. Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience leading children’s ministry or equivalent experience, including managing a team of both paid staff and volunteers. Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing programs/projects. Effective oral and written communication and time management skills; self-discipline. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office or with similar software; Willingness to complete a CPR certification course appropriate for children/youth at CUMC’s expense. Successful completion of Safe Sanctuaries Training as required by The North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
