Gammon Theological Seminary remains thankful for all the students, alumni, friends, faculty, and staff. The theme for Founders Day 2019 is “Behold the Vision: Unity!”
On Tuesday and Wednesday, December 3 – 4, 2019, Gammon Theological Seminary will celebrate the 136th year of Founders Day! I invite you to join us in commemorating this special occasion!
Our opening preacher will be Bishop LaTrelle Easterling of the Baltimore-Washington Conference of The UMC. The 2019 Founders Day Thirkield-Jones Lecturer is Rev. Dr. F. Douglas Powe, Jr. from Wesley Theological Seminary. Dr. Powe is currently the Director of the Lewis Center for Church Leadership, James C. Logan Professor of Evangelism, E. Stanley Jones Professorship, and Professor of Urban Ministry.
The 2019 Trailblazer Justice Award Recipient will be Dr. James Salley. Dr. Salley is the Associate Vice-Chancellor for Institutional Advancement for Africa University. With more than 22 years of higher education administration experience, with offices both in Nashville at the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and the university site in Old Mutare, Zimbabwe, he has been in ministry with Africa University since its inception.
The 2019 Emerging Prophetic Leader Award Recipient will be Rev. Tiffanie C. Postell. Rev. Postell was raised in Ben Hill UMC located in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a graduate of Gammon Theological Seminary. Rev. Postell has extensive college ministry experience. She was the Campus Chaplain/Pastor/Director for The Wesley Foundation @ Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is currently the Pastor-in-Charge of Newman UMC located in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Rev. Dr. Neichelle R. Guidry will be our closing preacher. She is a graduate of Clark Atlanta University, Yale Divinity School, and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Dr. Guidry is currently the Dean of the Chapel and the Director of the WISDOM Center at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia.
